 Yea those things are great, but they are more of an all mountain fork than a downhill fork. If you are looking for something with a similar feel and a travel that can be shortened to 110, look at the RockShox Rebel. Strong, cheap and very smooth.

 I ride fixed too, but I still don't understand why you want to tear him apart like that wonderwoman. I mean there is no reason to resort to cursing and swearing, is there? Just explain to him that the bike is good for what you like to do and I am sure that will be the end of it if you let it be. It seems to me that you are just trying to support a point for the sake of feeling like you are rebelling against something and that is what gives fixed gear riders a bad name. Not saying anything to offend you or anything, just trying to help.

 Track bikes always have a steep angle on the stem to help with the aerodynamics, and so that when standing for a sprint you have more leverage and clearance.
